I have a problem... (Augh! Damn it!)
Oct. 8th, 2009 02:32 pmAnd it's adding "..." to the end of all the sentences. I know this is wrong (well, maybe not wrong but using it at the end of every third sentence or so is probably overdoing it.)
However, my workmates and friends continuously pull me up on it. That said, I feel that my grammar and spelling are a damn sight better than theirs, so over using the common ellipsis (now I am going to spend the rest of my afternoon wondering what the plural to that is) is not something they should be arguing with me over when they e-mail me "wat u doin 4 lunch?"
I suppose I should just be grateful that they spelt lunch correctly.
I feel old. And cranky. And that I am turning into my very pernickety (and English) father regarding grammar and spelling. Maybe this shouldn’t be so much of a revelation as it is, considering I got the “Eats, Shoots & Leaves” desk calendar three times from various friends last Christmas/Birthday. Maybe they were trying to tell me something.
Anyway, I sense an improvement. I have stopped myself five times from adding unnecessary ellipses. (I had to look the plural up in my dictionary.)
Back to work now... (an ellipsis for the road)
